Alfio Antico & Vera Di Lecce – I Venti Parlano

The most ancestral Mediterranean music tradition is brought back to the present, thanks to the extraordinary meeting of two artists of different generations. Alfio Antico, the master of Sicilian frame drums, an iconic figure of popular tradition and Vera Di Lecce, a musician of the new generation, who grew up assimilating these sounds thanks to a family devotedly active in researches on the Apulian musical and cultural heritage.
Vera is also a visionary experimentalist electronic musician which in the current year published 3 singles on American label Manimal Vinyl Records, home also to Bat For Lashes, Warpaint, Yoko Ono, Devendra Banhart and many more.
The video concert is built up as a narration: the intro part has been recorded in acoustic, as an accompaniment to a performative moment by Vera which then leads to the musical performance inside Museo Del Negroamaro’s exhibition spaces in Guagnano (LE).
The tuff built museum, with its amazing natural acustic, was set up as if it was a live club.
In this evocative music tale, the frame drum guides through an acoustic and electronic weave without the use of bases, whilst the Sicilian artist’s narrative voice and Vera’s melodic vocals are intertwined in a sound texture of live recorded loops.
